One of the best-known businesses on the Isles of Scilly is closing, its owners have announced.
The Isles of Scilly Wholesalers has been trading since 1969, providing groceries to the islands' businesses and households.
Its owners, David and Fiona Maybrey, said they blamed the economic downturn, freight costs and home deliveries from mainland supermarkets.
Two other members of staff had lost their jobs, they said.
The company also traded as Porthmellon Stores.
Mrs Maybrey said: "More and more people are turning to the mainland for what appear to be cheaper prices.
"Every business on the island has to add the freight costs on, and they've just been getting higher and higher."
