TIMES may be hard but it seems when it comes to their pets, dog owners can still be barking.
A Chacewater couple said their firm selling "bling" for pampered pooches is going from strength to strength – with turnover doubling in a year.
Colin Halfpenny and Elizabeth Chance got the idea five years ago when they wanted to give their pet boxers a flashy makeover.
After searching for diamante leather collars they discovered the pet bling market was aimed squarely at small dogs.

So they set about designing and creating their own as a hobby. But they soon discovered they were not alone.
Miss Chance, 40, said: "We had two boxers, Nelson and Minnie, and we wanted to give them something special as a Christmas present. But we found out that you couldn't get it for bigger dogs so we started creating our own.
"It proved so popular that three years ago we set up our own company DogBling.
Among the items on sale are Doggles – goggles for dogs – costing £19.95; personalised diamante leather pet collars from £14; and dog life-jackets at £25.95.
Mr Halfpenny, 43, said: "At Christmas it goes absolutely mental. Orders start coming in by mid-November and it doesn't stop. It is a luxury item but people will always spend money on their pets.
"But when you take something like the Dogogles there is a serious side to it.
"If a dog has had an eye operation and needs to stop the UV light getting to it these are ideal. Vets recommended them."
He added: "We're always getting big burly blokes laughing at it all and saying it is not for them and then getting their dog a bandana or a diamante skull and crossbones.
If you want to find out more about the firm go to DogBling.
But feline fans need not worry – they've even got a range for cats.
