Thanks Denanmor for putting this up. I haven t seen inside this building for over 20 years. Looks the same as it always did. I use to be a main stage caller back in the days when this was owned by Mecca and then Top Rank.
My memory is of the cinema - never saw it like this; I see the wall features are the same (if a different colour); it is terrible that the exterior belies the condition of the interior. The building has the stamp of having great potential. But then, so does most of Penzance. Unfortunately most of it falls short by degrees.
I had a brief look around in here on Sunday, courtesy of the people who were (I presume) tidying up after Saturday. There was a petition which I signed which aims to prevent the demolition of this building and keep it as a resource for the town; a great idea, I think laugh#
This is insane, that a petition has to be signed - this is the perfect venue for rock concerts (and others less frenetic), instead of being crammed in the corner of some local hostelry. I did not realise the interior was still so well appointed. This building has so much in line for uses in the future. I am sick of this throw away society that is continually promulgating. Let us use what we have, instead of building new, only for it to be left unoccupied because of costs. Look at the farce in Alexandra Road. This building has worth historically and in terms of potential, as it is. Where to contact to sign this petition?
