I think this was taken in 1954/56. The picture features me (Brian Richards)on the right the one with winter gear on is Dave Murley.
Besides these two adventurous and proud young men, it is on Abbey steps with the yachts set out to the side of the Lifeboat House, showing the harbour before filling for cars; Jennings Slip and Abbey Slip were actually run down to the shore of the basin at this time. Must have been a rare sight - four cars in a row on Wharf Road. Excellent.
 
Nice pic Brian. I used to live just up the road from where you are standing, #25 New Street.

Hi Brian, my real name isTerry Brown, I used to live in New Street but, now live in Newfoundland ,Canada since 1972. Good to see the people I grew up with. Great memories.....
 
Hi Terry, thanks for your promt reply, youv e got my mind racing now i,m trying to come up with a picture, nothing doin i m afraid, i don t live in Penzance anymore i now live in Newcastle [ U.K] and iv e been trying to think where No25 is inNew street is it opp what used to be the Laundry, one more question do you have a brother called Derek?
 
Hi Brian, 25 New Street is close to the bottom of the street opposite alittle hopway (alleyway).I believe it is a guest house or something now. I have three brothers in Penzance, Barry, Malcolm and David, three sisters Pauline and Karole living in Bristol, and Jacqueline who lives at St. Hilary I believe, she is married to Frank Jehu. hope that can help you some....
