Just discovered this comment denanmor - only 11 months late!! Are you aware that there has recently been an appeal to raise money for the repair and refurbishment of the War Memorial at Humphry Davy School ? The Old Penwithians Association have now raised enough money to apply for matching funding from the Memorial Trust. Hope you don't take 11 months to find my reply!

I presume that many members of the orchestra are mentioned in the early pages of "Three Score years and Ten" which I have just begun reading. Do we know the names of any individuals?

No names have been provided so far. There is no specific reference to the members of the school orchestra in the chapter of Three Score Years and Ten dealing with this period, but one of the members of the orchestra pictured here must have been Morgan Hosking. He became conductor of the Penzance Orchestra and in 1972 was the last Honorary Freeman of Penzance Borough in recognition of his contribution to choral and orchestral music. It is mentioned that several members of the orchestra were members of staff.

During the time that "Picture Penzance" was slumberring several names have been added to this image - see the image description.
