These are excellent, I have moved them from Credit Crunch album into the Penzance Harbour album; can you give us any details of the time, contract length, anything at all?

There did not seem to be a user gallery option so I clicked on Penzance.I have many more to put in , be easier to have my own . As for the dock pics well, I was just an interested observer.

HH will create an album named 61trimph now, and from now on you can upload your pictures to this album name.....some good pics you have ::15:

Penzance Dry Dock Gates, opened by John Greenwood, Friday 24th September 1982.
Newton Chambers Engineering and W A Dawson Ltd Contractors.

It is a good picture isn t it. I know that the PDC have been in contact with us as they are looking to put a new website up over the Wet and Dry docks in PZ. I ll let you all know if anything come from this

And there was the story of the Mullet left behind in the puddle (background left). Eventually rescued after questions in the House (very nearly)

I am planning on a visit to the Records Office to get more information on the Docks. I have been reading some old writings and accounts. I have the plans of the original Dry Dock, here.

According to Clive Carter, a Tsunami type wave washed a docked vessel off its blocks in the origional dock.

There have been a number of such events over centuries; Dr Borlase relates his observations amongst others; I am trying to collate the accounts, not the least of which was 1014 and 1099, both with reliable person writing. It was then that our Bay changed; the very worst storm Penzance has seen was in 1817, and there the water carried stones of a ton or more in weight, as well as sweeping over the arms over ships and swamping and crushing them under the weight of water.
