Penzance Bank Fiver Back - Batten, Carne and Carne came with a pamphlet on Cornish Banks and Bankers by J.A. Shearme AIB from which I can deduce this note was issued 1825 and 1890
Batten Carne and Carne came into being in 1833. The original company began in Chapel Street in 1795.
Founder members were merchants Richard Oxnam, John Batten and William Carne.
