Parkers

WOW!! I was born then and when i was older I knew Parkers to be at the bottom of town....not seen this pic before! good pic. Hope no one was hurt!

A number of animals and a lot of birds died in this fire; they were kept in the back of the store. One of the staff was a friend of mine and went on to join the Building Control department in PDC. This was a momentous occasion in the town, not only because of the fire, but that was where anyone got anything, and at a reasonable price; it was a rabbit warren of a store.

cannot believe that it was 1969, can remember going into the store with my mum to look at the animals! Didn t they have a monkey in a cage at the back of the store that perished in the fire? sad#

Someone in the family asked what year Parker s fire was and I couldn t remember. Never realised it was so long ago!

I can remember the monkey, I think he was called Cap`n.
