Market House Penzance

Then this was the Market house Penzance, and remained so until 1924 when Lloyd's Bank purchased it. This picture was taken in 1900... wow! Picture supplied by J W Meek

This is an interesting picture because it does not have the Market Cross in position (now in Penlee Park) and the Market House still has its water font. This has a slightly different plan arrangement from the original plans; I have the original plans and elevations of the work done for the bank, incidentally. Note also the chimney of the oldest building remaining in use, next door to Haddons, it still exists today.

Just checked back on my notes, the earliest buildings in this area were dated 1614, and so Happy 394th Birthday to the chimney !!
