Market House, Penzance

A collection of cabs under the Terrace.
I do not think that this is long after the statue of 1872 had been erected.

At a boot sale - I did not buy any boots, just these postcards ::15: There is also a Promenade picture, which I will upload with the rest that I have collected of the Promenade.

Good find treeve ::6: Any indication who the photographer was, and what is the back of the card like. Yes I am a closet deltiologist ::15:

None at all, however, it does not appear to be a professional photographer , as it is all skew whiff. But it looks also as if there is rather a line up for the picture. It may be the team that installed the statue. I would like to see the original print of this, I have to say.

I think my oldest picture is vignette style of Morrab Gardens. With photography being an expensive hobby in those days a lot of pictures were reused over years. I have two of Market Jew Street duplicated which spans 20 years in usage. The original being late 1880 s still in use in 1905 as the postmark verifies.

My Grandfather had a wagonette stand there an uncle had a stand at the top of Morrab Road, early 1900 s

Treeve, I agree it all looks very posed especially with the bright statue standing out against the smoke-blackened columns and edifice of the now Lloyds bank. laugh# laugh# laugh#
