This is John Divane, VC. The Penzance fish hawker who was awarded the Victoria Cross - this nation's highest mili¬tary honour - for "distinguished gallantry" during the Indian Mutiny in 1857. He lay in an unmarked grave in Penzance Cemetery for over a century.
