'Jeanne Gougy' wreck in November, 1962, the Year of the Ash Wednesd

See member Chill's scanned matchbox label depicting the same scene of the French vessel, a trawler, foundering. My brother, Mike, took this shot at Land's End. Eleven crew members perished in a dramatic but failed attempt to rescue the men.
Seven men were saved.
I wasn t sure as I had seen both versions so I checked references. The RNLI gave it as Jeanne which I took as confirmation but I could be wrong.
It was a tragic loss yet also six men were saved by heroic efforts.
In our home it was known as the Jean Gowjy neither of my parents having any French.

It was only when someone spotted somebody waving from one of those wheelhouse windows that it was realised anybody had survived. I didn't realise it was as many as six though.
