CLOSED! The sportsman Heamoor

Couldn't trade any longer and it was decided that the pub will close down. This snap was taken 18th December 2008. The Sportsman was the only pub serving Heamoor, mind you there are a couple of off licences, clubs and association serving alcohol to the village.
This continues the non-stop heart surgery of towns and villages, the dispersal of the community.
The Sportsman (now Sportsmans Arms) was flourishing around 1830; I believe the white building to be around 1900.
I suspect that there was an Inn here since the 17th century.

Bet you haven t got a photo of the latest to go into Administration?? I was reliably informed today Lands End?

I think my brother has entertained at the Sportsmans Arms, sad to see it go, one less venue for musicians.

I played there I think it was the end of last year or beginning of this year. Not the biggest pub but still a venue.

Still. there is always the outside of the Savoy? laugh# ;) or The Barn Club ::1: ;) But seriously, we are witnessing the dispersal of society into the great diaspora .....

Overhearing (not eavesdropping!) a conversation in Heamoor Post Office today, it would seem that this hostelry is on the verge of reopening.

Now that would be good. It has a monopoly in the area and has good potential if the new owners build a community based, traditional pub business.;)

The building has had a new paint job, and there s been some sort of activity inside. I m told it s due to open sometime soon (whatever that means!)
