am i right in saying this chapel is were the wimpy bar is now

Yep that's where it was, I can remember it quit vividly.

Actually it was where Peacocks is now, you can still see the rear of it as tttom asks. (Pretty sure anyway, am sure treeve has commented about this before, will see if I can find the link)

This brilliant picture needs some love! Can it be put in a main album, like Penzance Central 1950s, if it isn't already? I am guessing at the decade!
