I m sure Penzancemaid remembers the rivalry surrounding the bonfires on Treneere green and Parc Mellan (or Colinsey as we called it then)
This really is a blast from the roots

I can remember people moaning that some spoilsports (PDC?) had torn the bonfire down because it was considered too big or dangerous.

Too big! I doubt that we managed to build any of the bonfire even close to their real potential. However, we were Treneere children and had a bonfire building skill that the Normans would have been proud of. I remember the destruction by the PDC. But they were 9 to 5er s by morning it was always back... laugh# laugh#
