Funny old sayings

I was thinking the other day about some old sayings and odd comments people make. Whilst thinking about it they mostly involved animals in one way or other, why is that?

Much easier to anthropomorphise than to make ill-founded claims against our fellow man/woman, animals cannot make a legal accusation in a court of law, by proxy or otherwise. :)

There's quite a few, isn't there?! Perhaps it's a link back to Man's early origins, a reliance on animals for food, skins, clothing, etc, etc and cave paintings show the relationship we had regarding animals way back in the past - early hunters making images of the animals they'd hope to catch. The relationship between Man and other animals goes way back into the past, so as language developed, there was that comparison between us and animals, and we see the remnants of that in our language today.
