An inquest into the death of a bomb disposal expert from Cornwall who was killed in Afghanistan has been scheduled for 18 January.
Staff Sergeant Olaf Schmid from Truro was killed while disarming a roadside bomb in November 2009.
Earlier this year his widow accepted the George Cross on his behalf.
The Cornwall Coroner Emma Carlyon said she would be calling some of Staff Sgt Schmid's comrades to give evidence about their work at the inquest.
Staff Sgt Schmid, 30, of the Royal Logistic Corps, was killed in Helmand province a week before his deployment was due to end.
He is said to have disarmed 64 explosive devices during his five month tour of duty.
He grew up in Truro and was a former head chorister at the cathedral.
