National Registration Identity Card.
Issued in 1939. It was originally brown.
In 1943 adult cards became blue, the child's remaining brown. It was necessary to produce this when using Coupons; it was not just a case of knowing who you are. It was more serious than that. It was to identify killed, injured and separated from parents. It was held in use until 1952.
