Tresco Bays - 04

Now approaching the St Mary's Sound, Eastern Isles still visible.
Scillonian III now reduces speed dramatically; at very low water
the route through the ledges and shallows must be taken easily,
and the course taken is very wide off Garrison.
6th August 2009.
Scillonian III had a very short berthing time some days due to limited cover, just what that would mean to any replacement vessel remains to be seen, especially as Scillonian IV is a much larger vessel, and if she is to be based at Falmouth, the trade off between fuel requirements and cargo, as well as draught is something that will require some serious maths.

Should the new vessel handle the same as the old Queen of the Isles the prospect of going past Lands End and around the Lizard would be too daunting for most passengers - and crew.
