The Man Engine Shaft, Levant Mine

Visit to the Levant Mine in the St Just Mining district near Trewellard and Geevor Mine. In 1919, 31 miners lost their lives when the man engine of 1840, installed as a speedier lifting and lowering device, snapped and hurtled over 400 feet to the bottom of the shaft.
