Sign of the Times

Sad reflection of where civilized society is heading. This photo was taken in the public lavatories opposite St John's Hall in Penzance.
Too true, such acceptance of drug abuse ... however, others are destroying their lungs and kidneys with equal propensity and determination. Others are bent on killing on the roads, including themselves. At least some care is being shown towards those using needles. The alternative is horrifying for children, let alone the public at large.

I would be interested to know from someone responsible for the collection from these letter boxes just how many syringes they find and how often.

some people may be diabetic and have to inject themselves with insulin, they would have to get rid of there needles somewhere? The sign doesn t ask people who misuse drugs to be sensible, it s simply stating this is where to put your used needles, in answer to Trepolpens question how many syringes,I think that the box is taken away by a firm and disposed of accordingly.

I know a number of diabetics, and they keep their needles with them until they get home and dispose of them in a safe sharps box; my mother included. The sharps are incinerated.

I m sure they have the same system as we did in the pub trade. In pubs (not so much down here) a sharps box is placed in the wall. On the other side is a steel box that is locked. This is collected and swapped by Initial (Feminine Hygiene department believe it of not) the contents of the box is the burnt in a furnace. Because of the high risk of hepatitis, the boxes are only opened at the furnace site.
