We went for a family outing to Scilly on 29th August, 1987, and this was before leaving Penzance on the Scillonian. Those fishermen were certainly up with the lark too!
Yes, it was if I remember correctly. I always think the Scillies are more like Brittany than Cornwall in many ways, particularly with the tide out when all the reefs are exposed around the islets. On the Ile de Batz opposite Roscoff, a yachtsman told me that the islanders often sailed to St Mary s because it seemed a home away from home!
