A bit better cared for than now ... but it won t take long for this building to decay more than can be repaired, and then it is a re-build, and all of a sudden Market place loses its intimacy and charm.

All that Listed Building status means is that if any works are are to be done on it, then it has to remain as the Listing states; it does not prevent it from rotting away or being neglected. I have a List somewhere, I will check, when I get a chance. I think it is time that the people of Penzance took issue over protecting these pieces of our history, whatever their date or architectural merit as seen by officials.

Hepworths had recently had an overhaul ... it now looks as it should, and if the fabric has been similarly treated, it should last us for some years to come and grace our Market Place, with the benefit of its age and heritage. I have to say, I am reet chuffed .
