Market House plan 1922

This may be of interest ... a drawing prepared by Cowell, Drewitt and Wheatly in March of 1922, to illustrate the proposed alterations to Market House for Lloyds Bank. In 1922 it had been proposed by Penzance BC to encourage demolition back to the lines pencilled, including the loss of what was Lennards, Mitchell, Chirgwin (which happened later), Mortimer, Bon Marche, Lawry and Peasgoods. The real culprit here was the encouragement of size as far as the new Market House was concerned in 1837.
I'm just trying to picture this in my head. I'm wondering where the steps up to Bread Street would be? Where Shambles Market is indicated. perhaps?

Yes. I believe the shambles market was a public right of way, just as that passage and steps are today.

Simpson's Arcade, et al; I remember that I took some pictures around that area, particularly of the platter (seal) on the Market House. More information (text) yet to be added :)
