Landing on Bryher - Father-in-law helps boatman

Holiday on Scilly during the celebrations of the Queen's Silver Jubilee, June, 1977.
Trevelyan! Very nice to know that we have that connection, albeit from 1977! Where do you live that you find yourself painting the vessel in this pic. On Scilly all the year round or temporarily?

BOP the 1970's set of pictures of the IOS, especially the isthmus views from Garrison Hill were excellent. I’m sorry to have been a little vague with yesterdays comment. The landing on St Agnes is the third time that the Southern Queen has turned up on the Gallery and each time in a different colour. The painting of the Southern Queen has always brought back good memories of one particular day from the mid sixties when I spent some time working over there. One fine summers day the S. Q. moored up alongside Old Quay to have some rudder post work done. The owner took this opportunity to repaint everything inboard. When the tide turned a wind unexpectedly came up and, as it does, blew sand along Town Beach around the Mermaid Slip and around and over the Old Quay. The freshly painted thwarts took on a coarsely textured finish – which became a bit of a joke at the time

I've not been called an 'island' before, trevelyan, (no man is one, I'm told!) but don't give that BOP

credit for my photographs (scanned transparencies in fact)! He was only a nipper then! I'm the venerable Trepolpen! Seriously, Trevelyan, thanks for the enlargement of your comment and the anecdote that goes with it!
