Inside

A picture of inside West Cornwall Hospital picture supplied by John Gendall
Observation notes from Halfhidden: This photograph suggests that it may well have been taken in the late 1920s. Note the gas lighting on the ceiling and the dress code.
Great ... it would be good to know just what the lifebuoy says? Looks like it may be an event? Walls decorated, and the flags.

Additional notes: I can see that the nurses all have anchors on thier pinnies, the staff nurse at the end of the beds has a dog in her arms and to the right of her is a child

That s when real matrons ran the wards! Hospital acquired infections was not heard of back then,at least not like in this day and age!

There is a board on the left hand down a bit over the bedhead, is it readable?

Nurses uniforms just after 1918 up until c1930. I suspect the decorations are for a Christmas, plenty of mistletoe. Probably a posed picture for the families. This may possibly be the Bolitho Convalescent Hospital, more later ...

White Ensign and lifebelt by the officer s bed. Home made to make him feel at home. There are other flags here for other units and forces, there is a uniformed officer in the far corner, below the checquered flag.
