Day Trip to Scilly - 20th April, 2007

Jan by Sir Cloudesley Shovel's 'grave'. This monument marks the spot where the body of the said gentleman (His flagship was the HMS Association) was buried after the wrecking of the British Fleet on the Western Rocks in 1707. His body was later exhumed, pickled in brandy and taken to Plymouth to be embalmed. It was then taken for a stated funeral to Westminster Abbey.
