Common bindweed

This plant is well known for the way it cleaves to another plant by winding its stem round it and finally strangling it no doubt. However, it has these fine trumpet-like, white flowers and there are many colourful, cultivated varieties to be found in gardens. In Spain and the Mediterranean, blue/purple ones are commoner.
