Waves the size of houses

Waves fill the houses and gardens on Captain's Row and Marine Tce in the Western Promenade Road near the Lugger Inn of today
Brilliant photo - I remember walking across to Newlyn a couple of days later and hardly believing the devastation.

My Mum was 7 months pregnant with me at the time. My Mum and Dad woke up to the devastation the next morning, the place was flooded and they were moved out and the cottage was demolished.

I was 7 years old and at the time lived at 14 Cornwall terrace and remember going out with my father while he took photos of all the damage that was caused. He later worked on the rebuilding of the prom for Conneleys of Falmouth. Some old pennies were cemented in at the top of the steps opposite the Queens hotel, probably gone now,but i do remember it !!
