THE NEW VESSEL RMV SCILLONIAN III - JUNE, 1977

These were the early days in the life of RMV Scillonian III. Here she is at the quayside in Hugh Town, St Mary's.
Very good - almost as good as the official Appledore ones (I have those) - do you want to see those?

They are on an indeterminate sea, but I was told that they were taken in waters off Scilly, as they closed final trials. I have so many other pictures of our previous Mail Packets, in waters much further away. Even the launch of Queen of The Isles.

I liked the Queen of the Isles, but have only ever done a Longships and back trip on her, in the distant depths of my memory.

Did M lady get pictures of the event? Longships themselves, perchance? I have pictures of her on her merry jaunt in the channel, northwards, Irish sea and to the Pacific.

Unfortunately, no. Not a lot of photos taken when I was little, my parents went through a camera-less phase, that covered a great chunk of my childhood. sad#

My first camera was an 18th birthday present (110 Instamatic).

Have you been on Andy Newland s site?
