My favourite little puss from Barwis Hill area. This little cat - at least half tabby - is so friendly every time I pass and has the most plaintive, high-pitched mew. Perhaps I should open an album for Penwith cats alone!
Well there you go - I've never heard the term 'mackerel back' before! Funnily enough, we had mackerel for tea tonight - a pound each from the wet fish shop down at Wharf Side. And very tasty they were too.
@tabtab, I only know this as we had a little one like this years ago and was told when I got him. Lovely little fellow, very affectionate, but unfortunately got killed on the road in Alverton.
glad you enjoyed your tea, I had Salmon. once had fried mackerel 5 minutes after it was caught on a boat, cant get much fresher than that
Watched Jaime Oliver in Sweden last night. A delicacy there is 'fermented herring' - it's sealed in a can and as it ferments, the can expands. Once opened, the stench was overpowering, but apparently was very tasty. Then they got out a 'vintage' tin that had been fermenting FOR 10 YEARS! If the regular tin smelt really bad. you can just imagine how bad the vintage one smelt once opened .......!
This little puss is a girl as far as I can judge. She's too small to be a tom and her voice hasn't broken though she's been there for quite a few years. Mind you, who am I to judge? I'd never heard of mackerel back either, MissP!
@tabtab: About six years ago I went to Sweden, am not a fussy eater at all but had to force down one of those sweet digestive biscuits with raw fish (herring), 'sill' I think they call it.
