Boat race

This snap of the annual boat race was taken in 1985 just outside Tesco in Marketjew Street. This building is now Pound Stretcher. Supplied by Di and Den
Oh and look!... a car driving out of the lane/road next to Tesco, we will not see that any more as this road has now been blocked by a post near the top.

I remember going on trolley pushing duty. All the male workers (how sexist) had to go to the bottom of New Town Lane, collect the trolleys left at the car park where Wharfside is now and push a train of them all the way back up to the front of the store. Swinging them round at the top on a busy Saturday afternoon was fun!

I have several pictures of boats parading through town but have yet to load them as I didn t know what they were about. I ll get them on one day and you ll probably be able t otell me.
