Part way up Gweal Hill (on the north path).
With so many feet now trudging the Isles of Scilly, the Islands are more aware of the need to conserve the special conditions and the particular flora that they have. It is advised to walk only where there is a defined pathway. There are plants here that simply do not exist on the mainland or in The Channel Islands, they in their turn support a great and diverse insect world. I have never seen so many browns nor blues of the butterfly world. The small coppers and small blues are in good numbers, but never alight very long or very close; as tempting as it may be to trudge after them, it would only result in damaging their habitat.
